Pickpockets between Pulogadung and Bekasi<\/p>\n

The Pulogadung-Bekasi bus route is rife with pickpockets these
\ndays, brazenly operating on public vehicles without showing any
\nremorse. They usually act in groups of four or five to Bekasi,
\nKarawang, Cikampek and Purwakarta.<\/p>\n
Pickpockets are most commonly found boarding a bus outside the
\nPulogadung terminal. Their choice is always a bus packed with
\npassengers. They aim to distract the passengers by creating a
\ncommotion, pushing and shoving people around them. When the bus
\nspeeds away, the victims are sandwiched momentarily, while their
\npockets are emptied.<\/p>\n
The pickpockets usually do not care less if other passengers
\nwitness their crime, continuing to work on the hapless victim who
\nis totally powerless to defend himself. If they are interrupted
\nin their work by a passenger, they would challenge the person in
\na duel. In most cases, passengers opt to keep quiet or disembark
\nimmediately.<\/p>\n
We believe that pickpockets operate in several groups. One
\ngroup boards the bus at the Pulogadung terminal, then gets off
\nbefore the Cakung toll gate. Here another group takes over and
\ndisembarks at Tambun in a relay-style theft. Meanwhile another
\ngroup on the non-toll routes is busy intercepting a bus outside
\nthe Pulogadung terminal, then disembarks at Cacing. Another group
\nthen boards at Kranji and gets off at the Metropolitan mall near
\nthe Bekasi terminal.<\/p>\n
We suggest that passengers from Pulogadung should be very
\ncareful if they have to travel east on a toll or non-toll road.
\nPickpockets are becoming quite brutal these days.<\/p>\n
