Pickpocket fatally mobbed at terminal<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A mob at Kampung Rambutan intercity bus terminal
\nin East Jakarta mobbed to death an alleged thief on Sunday
\nmorning.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. when bystanders at the
\nterminal were alerted by the screams of a middle-aged woman,
\nlater identified as Suswati.<\/p>\n
The resident of nearby Cipayung subdistrict told the crowd
\nthat her handbag had been stolen by a man, who was seen running
\nthrough the lines of minibuses parked at the terminal.<\/p>\n
Scores of bus crew, street vendors and commuters chased after
\nand caught the man.<\/p>\n
Finding the handbag in his possession, the crowd mobbed the
\nman.<\/p>\n
\"So it's true that you're the pickpocket,\" a man said before
\nhitting the alleged thief with a brick.<\/p>\n
The mob ceased their attack only after terminal officials
\nrushed to the site to disperse them.<\/p>\n
The alleged thief died at the scene.<\/p>\n
\"It's better if he dies that way,\" the driver of a city bus
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Local police, who arrived later, took the body to Cipto
\nMangunkusumo General Hospital in Central Jakarta for a postmortem
