        "content": "<p>Philippines warns against rebel aid<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): A Philippines official warned foreign<br>\ngovernments on Wednesday against helping separatists on Mindanao<br>\nIsland.<\/p>\n<p>\"Let me stress that the government's peace talks with the MILF<br>\nis purely an internal affair of the Philippines,\" President<br>\nJoseph Estrada's spokesman, Fernando Barican, said, referring to<br>\nthe Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).<\/p>\n<p>\"Therefore, any foreign government that supports the MILF will<br>\nbe interfering with the internal affairs of the Philippine<br>\ngovernment,\" he added.<\/p>\n<p>Barican stressed that the Organization of the Islamic<br>\nConference, which groups more than 40 countries, \"does not<br>\nrecognize\" the 12,000-member MILF, which seeks to set up an<br>\nIslamic state in Mindanao, which comprises the southern third of<br>\nthe archipelago.<\/p>",
