        "content": "<p>PG Meritjan Kediri in East Java aims to crush 2.5 million quintals of\nsugarcane by the 2026 harvest season, up from 2.2 million quintals in\n2025.<\/p>\n<p>General Manager Tites Agung Priyono said on Saturday that the\ncrushing process has already begun, with a target of 2.5 million\nquintals and a 7.5% recovery rate for 2026. \u201cWe are confident this\ntarget can be achieved due to government support for the CPCL\n(prospective farmers and locations) and ratoon removal programme we\nstarted last year,\u201d he said in Kediri.<\/p>\n<p>The company is collaborating with partners, including farmers under\nthe PG Meritjan Kediri branch of the Indonesian Sugarcane Farmers\nAssociation (APTR), to ensure a successful 2026 crushing season.<\/p>\n<p>PG Meritjan Kediri commenced the crushing season with a \u201cmanten tebu\u201d\nceremony at the plant, a tradition resembling a wedding ceremony where\nparticipants dress as bride and groom. This is part of local customs to\nensure smooth operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlhamdulillah, the ceremony went smoothly and we are ready for the\n2026 crushing season,\u201d Priyono added.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Human Resources at PT SGN Affan Safiq also expressed\nconfidence in meeting the target, citing strong management preparations\nand extensive coordination with farmers and the local community. He\nnoted a 99.03% readiness score from the general steam test across all\nmachinery stations, indicating the plant\u2019s preparedness to support sugar\nself-sufficiency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are confident PG Meritjan will recover and turn a profit this\nyear,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>APTR Chairman Mahmud Pujianto confirmed the association\u2019s support for\nthe mill\u2019s operations, stating PG Meritjan is Kediri\u2019s oldest company\nand vital to the local economy. He added that the mill\u2019s contracted\nfarmers are committed to supplying high-quality, sweet, clean, and fresh\nsugarcane.<\/p>",
