'Petualangan Sherina' awaits students on school holiday<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): School holidays are still a month away, but
\nlocal child singer Sherina Munaf is ready to entertain her fans
\nwith her debut movie Petualangan Sherina, the Adventure of
\nSherina, to be released on June 14.<\/p>\n
Petualangan Sherina, a 114-minute musical film, will have to
\ncompete with Dreamworks' comedic tale of friendship and adventure
\nThe Road to Eldorado or Walt Disney's newest animation Dinosaurs
\nto attract the junior audience during the one-month school
\nholidays, while their parents enjoy Tom Cruise's Mission
\nImpossible 2.<\/p>\n
Sherina, directed by Riri Riza and Mira Lesmana, tells about
\nfriendship, children and family relationships coping with the
\nentertainment business. In this film, produced by Miles
\nProduction and at a cost of about Rp 2 billion, Sherina will be
\naccompanied by newcomers Derby Romero and vocal teacher Ucy
\nNurul. To make the film attractive to the local market, the
\nproducer has cast some stars from theater and movies, Didi Petet,
\nMathias Muchus, Butet Kertaredjasa, Djadoek Ferianto and Teater
\nKoma's Ratna Riantiarno.<\/p>\n
Musician Elfa Secioria composed the film's soundtrack Lihatlah
\nLebih Dekat, Take a Closer Look, which is also Sherina's second
\nalbum.<\/p>\n
Mira, the director and producer, said in a press meeting that
\nthe idea of the film came from Sherina and she adapted it into a
\nmusical production.<\/p>\n
She admitted she explored ideas and inspirations from the
\nclassic films The Sound of Music and musical film Grease for her
\nPetualangan Sherina.<\/p>\n
\"I wanted to make an entertaining film for Indonesian
\nfamilies,\" explained Mira. The release of Petualangan Sherina
\nwill be like a breath of fresh air to the tainted Indonesian
\nmovie world, which has been crippled since the early l990s.<\/p>\n
The last Indonesian film screened in the local movies was
\nNugroho's Puisi Tak Terkuburkan, Unburied Poems.<\/p>\n
The producer of Petualangan Sherina will also launch video
\nclips for Sherina's second albums, merchandises, websites
