JAKARTA – Young people now have another way to prepare a home deposit
through a savings scheme integrated with housing finance services. The
programme allows prospective buyers to build up funds gradually while
preparing the requirements for a home ownership loan (KPR).

Perum Perumnas and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN)
launched the Nabung DP programme at the Youth Housing Festival at
Pasaraya Blok M in Jakarta. It is designed to help the public,
particularly young people, develop the habit of saving before buying
their first home.

Perumnas Acting President Director Imelda Alini Pohan said home
ownership requires careful financial planning. In addition to saving for
a deposit, prospective buyers need to assess their ability to meet
instalments and fulfil the bank’s financing requirements.

“We understand that the challenges people face in owning a home are
not limited to saving for a deposit; they also include being able to
meet instalments and satisfy banks’ requirements for KPR approval,”
Imelda said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday (30 October
2026).

According to Imelda, Nabung DP encourages prospective buyers to set
aside part of their income regularly to prepare a home deposit. The
habit of saving may also be one of the factors banks consider when
assessing a prospective borrower’s financial readiness to apply for a
KPR.

Imelda explained that people can save while waiting for construction
of their chosen home to be completed. The funds remain recorded in the
saver’s own name and may be used to help finance the home, subject to
the applicable rules.

“The savings remain in the individual’s name, making ownership clear,
and can be used to help reduce the burden of housing finance, in
accordance with the applicable provisions,” Imelda added.

Imelda said early financial preparation can help young people
understand the home-buying process and the financing options available.
The programme is intended to enable prospective buyers to plan home
ownership in a more measured way.

“Through this initiative, young people are expected to begin building
their financial readiness early, while gaining a better understanding of
the home-buying process and the financing options available,” Imelda
said.

Alongside the introduction of Nabung DP, the Youth Housing Festival
features a property exhibition showcasing several Perumnas housing
developments. Visitors can find information about locations, unit types
and offers available during the festival.

Perumnas is also providing free consultations on BTN KPR facilities
for the purchase of homes it has developed. Through the service,
prospective buyers can learn about financing options, loan application
requirements and the steps to prepare before buying a home.

Imelda said working with banks is one way to broaden public access to
housing finance. Perumnas is also seeking to improve young people’s
understanding of financial planning and the process of owning a
home.

“By holding the Youth Housing Festival, Perumnas hopes to improve
housing ownership literacy among young people and broaden public access
to housing products and services,” Imelda said.
",
