        "content": "<p>PT Pertamina (Persero) through Refinery Unit VII Kilang Kasim\ncontinues to strengthen its commitment to supporting community\nself-reliance in the areas surrounding its operations. This commitment\nis realised through assistance in developing the community programme for\nthe Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) in the buffer area of the East Waigeo\nIsland conservation zone, Waifoi Village, Mayalibit Bay, Raja Ampat\nRegency, Southwest Papua, on 25 April 2026. The programme focuses on\ncommunity-based eco-tourism development, one of which is through the\nconstruction of homestays managed directly by the residents. This\ninitiative is considered capable of optimising Raja Ampat\u2019s natural\npotential without neglecting local wisdom and environmental\npreservation. Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nanik S. Deyang,\nexpressed her appreciation for the preserved natural potential in Waifoi\nVillage. According to her, Pertamina\u2019s CSR programme in the area serves\nas an example of community economic development that aligns with the\nlocal natural character. \u201cThis is extraordinary, because the social\nprogramme is truly adapted to the environment. It emphasises management\nof homestays by the community and ownership by the community,\u201d said\nNanik. Nanik added that the presence of homestays with eight rooms and a\nrate of around Rp550,000 per night can provide additional income for the\nmanaging community group. This income can be used to support residents\u2019\nneeds, including the education of local children. \u201cThis is an example of\ntargeted CSR. It provides economic added value while preserving the\nenvironment and culture,\u201d she added. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Saupon\nAdventure Village Forest Farmers Group, Zakaria, explained that\nPertamina\u2019s involvement in the village began with a recommendation from\nthe Balai Besar Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BBKSDA) of West Papua.\nPertamina\u2019s support was provided through the construction of homestays,\nkitchens, and the provision of supporting facilities such as outboard\nmotors and diesel. \u201cPertamina helped us through the construction of\nhomestays, kitchens, and other facilities. Since it started developing\nin 2018, this homestay has continued to operate until now,\u201d Zakaria\nexplained. According to Zakaria, the programme has had a significant\nimpact on the community, particularly in improving facilities,\ntransportation access, and residents\u2019 income sources. In addition, the\ncommunity is increasingly motivated to preserve the environment,\nincluding mangroves and forest areas. \u201cMost of the community\u2019s income\nnow depends on this homestay.
