PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to strengthen national energy\nresilience by expanding global collaborations to drive performance\nimprovements in the upstream oil and gas sector. As part of its\nstrategic agenda in Houston, United States, Pertamina and Halliburton\nare aligning the use of technology to enhance upstream operational\nperformance.<\/p>\n
This alignment follows up on the Memorandum of Understanding signed\nin February between PT Pertamina (Persero) and Halliburton, focusing on\npriority areas of cooperation and developing more concrete\nimplementation pathways.<\/p>\n
Both parties are focusing on two priority areas: optimising the\neconomics of multistage fracturing (MSF) and accelerating the\nmonetisation of Indonesia\u2019s non-conventional oil and gas resources by\nutilising Halliburton\u2019s operational experience in the United States.<\/p>\n
Pertamina\u2019s Deputy Chief Executive, Oki Muraza, stated that proven\ndigital technology and field-tested execution models are key to\nunlocking the potential of complex reservoirs in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cPertamina is focused on applying the right technology and\noperational models to improve upstream performance. Through\ncollaboration with global technology leaders like Halliburton, we aim to\noptimise the economics of MSF and accelerate the development of\nnon-conventional resources in Indonesia,\u201d he said, quoted on Thursday\n(7\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n
From Halliburton\u2019s side, Senior Vice President of Production\nEnhancement, Eric Holley, reaffirmed the company\u2019s commitment to\nsupporting Pertamina\u2019s production increases.<\/p>\n
\u201cHalliburton is strongly committed to collaborating with Pertamina to\nenhance Indonesia\u2019s oil and gas production. We are ready to bring our\nbest capabilities in fracturing and production enhancement to support\nPertamina in monetising low-quality reservoirs through MSF, while\ncontributing more broadly to the development of Indonesia\u2019s\nnon-conventional resources ecosystem,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
As a continuation of the Memorandum of Understanding, Pertamina and\nHalliburton are also exploring several future cooperation initiatives.\nThese include the use of agentic AI for subsurface interpretation and\nreservoir modelling, development of Unconventional Early Development\nConcept (EDC) with a focus on optimising fracturing design,\nMulti-Lateral Drilling and Completion, Integrated Asset Management for\nmature fields, and various other technology-based programmes to support\nefficiency and upstream production increases.<\/p>\n
This collaboration is expected to support the implementation of pilot\nprogrammes, technology transfer, and capacity development in drilling,\nwell completion, production optimisation, and digital-based upstream\noperations.<\/p>\n
