Pertamina protested over rare fuel<\/p>\n
PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: Ethnic Malay residents in West
\nKalimantan staged a demonstration at the local office of state-
\nowned oil firm Pertamina on Monday demanding that the company
\ntake responsibility for the unresolved kerosene shortages in the
\nprovince.<\/p>\n
Arriving on two trucks, the protesters held up posters and
\nbanners saying the shortages had caused thousands of locals to
\nsuffer during the prolonged crisis.<\/p>\n
They were later received by local Pertamina marketing
\nexecutive Arie Anggoro and its head of shipping Jhon Chaidir.<\/p>\n
The Malays urged Pertamina to address the shortages, otherwise
\nthey would continue to protest in the coming days.<\/p>\n
The price of kerosene has soared to Rp 1,500 per liter in
\nrecent weeks due to the lack of supply. The official price is
\nonly Rp 550 per liter.<\/p>\n
Anggoro denied Pertamina reduced the supply of kerosene, but
\nblamed the shortages on certain dealers who have hoarded the
