        "content": "<p>PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is involving communities around its\noperational areas to process waste and refuse into products with added\nvalue. Corporate Secretary Roberth MV Dumatubun stated the company\u2019s\nstrong commitment to environmental conservation and community\nempowerment through activities across various operational regions. This\ncommitment is implemented through community involvement and development\nprogrammes in areas such as Dumai, Riau; Kasim, Papua Barat Daya; and\nMakassar, South Sulawesi. \u201cWe are collaborating with communities around\nour operational areas to process household waste and refuse, which not\nonly contributes positively to nature conservation but also serves as a\nform of long-term community empowerment,\u201d said Roberth. In Tanjung Palas\nVillage, Riau, Pertamina Patra Niaga\u2019s Dumai Refinery initiated Posyandu\nSehati, which exchanges used cooking oil for supplementary food for\npregnant women and toddlers. In the same area, the Wirani Rejosari Group\nactively processes organic waste into liquid organic fertiliser. In\nPapua Barat Daya, organic waste processing is carried out by the Kasim\nRefinery in Malabam Village, Seget, Sorong. Through the MOI (Mandiri,\nOptimal, dan Integrasi) programme, the Wahimu Farmers Group processes\norganic waste from food scraps and vegetable harvests into feed for pigs\nowned by the Kamisalun Livestock Group. The pig manure is then further\nprocessed into organic fertiliser to support the Wahimu Farmers Group\u2019s\nagriculture. The commitment to the environment and community empowerment\nis also realised through the Kampung BERLIAN programme run by the\nIntegrated Terminal Makassar together with the Tamalabba Village\ncommunity. This programme provides a solution to high levels of\nhousehold waste generation through an integrated approach, starting from\nwaste sorting, maggot cultivation via the Tamalabba Organic Center,\nmanagement of the Tasberlin waste bank, to the development of urban\nfarming based on hydroponics, aquaponics, and fish farming. Currently,\nKampung BERLIAN manages to reduce household waste by 6.7 tonnes per\nmonth, utilises 4 litres of used cooking oil per month, and saves 4,380\nkWh of energy through the use of solar power for the hydroponic system.\nThe programme also generates a social return on investment value of 1.50\ntimes, meaning every Rp1 of company investment yields social, economic,\nand environmental benefits worth Rp1.50 for the community. \u201cWith\ntangible achievements such as waste reduction, productive waste\nmanagement, and active community participation, this initiative proves\nthat environmental management can be a driving force for sustainability\nat the local level,\u201d Roberth added.<\/p>",
