        "content": "<p>Tangerang \u2013 PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), PT Pertamina (Persero),\nPGN, and PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) signed a Joint Study Agreement\n(JSA) to support the development of low-carbon ammonia using Carbon\nCapture and Storage (CCS) technology to capture CO2 emissions from\nfertiliser production processes.<\/p>\n<p>The JSA was signed by Dannif Utojo Danusaputro, Director of\nInvestment and Business Development at PHE; Hery Murahmanta, Director of\nStrategy and Business Development at PGN; Jamsaton Nababan, Director of\nTechnical and Business Development at Pupuk Indonesia; and Hana Timoti,\nSVP of Technology Innovation &amp; Implementation at Pertamina,\nwitnessed by the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK\nMigas), during the IPA Convex 2026 event at ICE BSD Tangerang, Banten,\non Thursday, 21 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative focuses on the production of blue ammonia and green\nammonia as future clean energy alternatives. Pupuk Indonesia targets\nproduction of up to 4.3 million tonnes of blue ammonia.<\/p>\n<p>The CCS technology will play a role in capturing carbon emissions\ngenerated by the ammonia plants, which will be injected back into oil\nwells or PHE\u2019s saline aquifers. This also positions Indonesia as a\nregional CCS hub in Southeast Asia capable of accommodating up to 4.3\ngigatonnes of carbon.<\/p>\n<p>One of the main developments will be implemented in Aceh, leveraging\nthe facilities of Pupuk Indonesia subsidiary plant, Pupuk Iskandar Muda\n(PIM). PGN collaborates with Pertamina and PHE to build the CCS Hub. The\ninjection facility will subsequently absorb carbon emissions from the\nfertiliser plant and other downstream industries.<\/p>\n<p>This project represents a long-term commitment by state-owned\nenterprises to achieve Indonesia\u2019s Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by\n2060, by transforming conventional ammonia into a more environmentally\nfriendly product.<\/p>",
