Pertamina hits back at Batavia Air<\/p>\n
State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has instructed all airport
\nfuel depots to not supply aviation fuel to Batavia Air's aircraft
\nbefore proper drain procedures have been conducted after the
\nairline's complaint that it was supplied fuel mixed with water.<\/p>\n
Pertamina said its workers in Medan, Batam and Padang found
\nwater content in the tanks of Batavia aircraft on Nov. 11 and
\nNov. 12, spokesman Mochamad Harun said in a statement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\"Airline officials should drain the tanks witnessed by a
\nPertamina worker (before refueling),\" Harun said.<\/p>\n
\"This policy, which should be part of the airline's standard
\noperating procedures, is necessary to anticipate fuel being mixed
\nwith other fluid in the tanks,\" he added.<\/p>\n
Condensation in the tanks is likely to happen after a flight,
\nsaid Harun, as the temperature in the air can fall to minus 15
\ndegrees Celsius.<\/p>\n
Batavia filed a complaint on Oct. 20, saying that fuel
\nsupplied the day before to one of its aircraft in Makassar was
\nmixed with water. Pertamina has denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n
A team consisting of representatives from Pertamina, Batavia,
\nthe National Transportation Safety Board, the Ministry of
\nTransportation and the police is currently investigating the
\ncase. It has yet to file a report.<\/p>\n
The South Sulawesi Police, however, have declared four
\nPertamina employees working in the airport's fueling station as
\nsuspects. -- JP<\/p>",
