Pertamina projects a 12 per cent rise in petrol consumption and a 14.5 per cent fall in diesel demand during the Lebaran 2026 holiday period, as it forms a Ramadan Idul Fitri Task Force to safeguard fuel supply and expands stock.

JAKARTA — PT Pertamina (Persero) projects that the consumption of
petrol-type fuels (gasoline) will rise by 12 per cent during the Lebaran
holiday period in 2026, while diesel consumption is expected to fall by
14.5 per cent. Muhammad Baron, Vice President of Corporate
Communications at Pertamina, said the company has formed the Ramadan
Idul Fitri Task Force, or Satgas RAFI, to safeguard energy supplies
during the mudik and return flows. Pertamina ensures the supply of fuel
and LPG is secure. ‘We have increased energy supplies, building up
stock, to anticipate higher consumption of fuels, especially during the
outbound and return flows. Fuel, LPG, and avtur stocks are already
secure and able to meet the needs of the Indonesian people,’ he said at
Grha Pertamina, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 February 2026. Roberth MV
Dumatubun, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, said petrol
consumption, such as Pertalite and Pertamax, is expected to rise by 12
per cent from normal conditions. Diesel consumption declines as mobility
restrictions on logistics vehicles are implemented. ‘Indeed, ahead of
the Idul Fitri holiday, restrictions will be imposed on logistics and
other large vehicles that typically carry goods and containers, which
reduces diesel consumption, but on the other hand there is a 12 per cent
increase in petrol consumption,’ he explained. Pertamina predicts the
peak of the mudik flow will occur on 14–15 March 2026 and 18–19 March
2026. The peak of the return flow is expected to be on 24–25 March 2026
and 28–29 March 2026. Avtur consumption is projected to rise by 2.8 per
cent. This increase aligns with rising public interest in travel during
the mudik period and holiday. Kerosene consumption is expected to rise
by 4.2 per cent. LPG consumption is projected to increase by 4 per cent
from normal conditions. ‘This is unsurprising, as LPG consumption is
also expected to rise in anticipation of activities before and during
the holiday, and during Ramadan earlier with homemaker activities,’ said
Roberth. A total of 6,300 LPG agents are on standby. The company has
also prepared 200 tanker units as spare supply. Pertamina has positioned
64 Kios Pertamina Siaga and modular services in areas without permanent
SPBU and in tourist zones. ‘This modular system consists of a tanker
truck already filled with fuel, placed at several nearby points or even
at SPBU locations. It serves as an alternative to SPBU for routes where
the number of SPBU is not large or their capacity is limited,’ he
said.
",
