        "content": "<p>PT Pertamina (Persero), through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Patra\nNiaga (PPN), is committed to prioritising customer satisfaction by\nproducing high-quality fuel products, including petrol, diesel, and\navtur. Before being released to the market, Pertamina Patra Niaga\ntightens the fuel production process, from refinery processing and\nlaboratory testing to final delivery to consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun,\nstated that one of the efforts to maintain fuel quality from Pertamina\u2019s\nrefineries is the impurities management process. This process reduces\nimpurities that are naturally present in crude oil. Impurities include\nsubstances such as sulphur, salt, naphthenic acid, nitrogen, and heavy\nmetals like nickel, vanadium, and mercury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis process prevents these substances from contaminating the crude\noil and hindering refinery performance, so that the quality of refinery\nproducts is maintained,\u201d said Roberth. This makes impurities management\nvital for the operational sustainability of the downstream oil and gas\nindustry and, most importantly, for maintaining public trust in the\nquality of fuel products produced by Pertamina Patra Niaga.<\/p>\n<p>Roberth explained that there are three stages of impurities\nmanagement at the six refineries operating under Pertamina Patra Niaga.\nThe first is maintaining refinery operational flexibility through crude\nselection and blending using a Crude Acceptance Matrix (CAM), allowing\nhigh-impurity crude to be processed safely. The next stage involves\npre-treatment and chemical treatment to reduce water, salt, sulphur,\nnitrogen, and metal content, supported by desalter technology,\nhydrotreating, and corrosion-inhibiting chemical injections. The final\nstage, asset integrity and reliability, ensures the refinery operates\nsafely and sustainably with anti-corrosion materials, periodic\ninspections, and routine maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe result of these three stages is high-quality and environmentally\nfriendly fuel. Through impurities management, the refinery is able to\nproduce Euro 4 standard fuels with lower sulphur content, such as\nPertamax Turbo, Pertamax Green, and Pertamina Dex,\u201d Roberth clarified in\na press release on Monday (15\/6\/2026). The advantages of Euro 4 products\ninclude longer-lasting engines due to minimal corrosion, more economical\nfuel consumption because of more efficient combustion, and environmental\nfriendliness.
