        "content": "<p>PT Pertamina Hulu Energi signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs)\nwith SK Group (SK Innovation and SK Earthon), ExxonMobil, and Posco\nInternational at the Indonesia-Korea Business Forum in Seoul, South\nKorea, on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. This collaboration aims to strengthen\nthe upstream oil and gas business portfolio, expand technological\npartnerships, and promote the development of decarbonisation solutions,\nincluding Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), as part of the energy\ntransition agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Risk Management at PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, Whisnu\nBahriansyah, stated that the collaboration is part of the company\u2019s\nstrategy to enhance competitiveness and accelerate transformation.\n\u201cStrengthening technical capabilities, opening opportunities for\ninorganic growth, and accelerating the development of low-carbon\ntechnology through collaboration with world-class partners,\u201d he said in\na written statement on Friday, 3 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In the collaboration with SK Group and ExxonMobil, Pertamina is\nexploring potential partnerships in the upstream oil and gas sector,\nincluding asset development, operational performance improvements, and\nopportunities for energy technology development that can add value to\nenergy security and business sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration includes exploring opportunities for cross-border\nCCS development between Indonesia and South Korea, including the\npotential for a regional CCS value chain that utilises Indonesia\u2019s\ncarbon storage capacity and South Korea\u2019s industrial sector\ndecarbonisation needs.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the collaboration with Posco International expands the\nscope to include identifying upstream business opportunities, developing\ndomestic and international oil and gas assets, and technology\ndevelopment cooperation through knowledge sharing, joint studies, and\ntechnical and commercial project reviews.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration also includes exploring CCS development, including\nthe potential for a CCS Hub in Indonesia as part of efforts to support\ncarbon emission reductions in the energy and industrial sectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGlobal partnerships are key to strengthening PHE\u2019s position in the\ninternational energy industry while creating long-term sustainable\nvalue,\u201d said Whisnu Bahriansyah.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Pertamina and Posco International have agreed to extend\nthe MoU validity until 31 March 2028 as a commitment to continue\ndiscussions on potential collaborations to further stages. All MoUs\nserve as initial frameworks for cooperation that will form the basis for\nfurther studies and discussions, and are not yet commercially binding\ninvestment commitments.<\/p>\n<p>Pertamina, according to Whisnu, will continue to invest in managing\nupstream oil and gas operations and businesses in accordance with\nEnvironmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. The company is\nalso committed to Zero Tolerance on Bribery by ensuring fraud prevention\nand keeping the company free from bribery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of them is through the implementation of the Anti-Bribery\nManagement System (SMAP) which has been standardised to ISO 37001:2016,\u201d\nhe added.<\/p>\n<p>The signing of the MoU between Pertamina and SK Group and ExxonMobil\nwas conducted by Director of Risk Management at PT Pertamina Hulu\nEnergi, Whisnu Bahriansyah, President of ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions\nIndonesia Ltd., Egon E Van Der Hoeven, President of SK Innovation Co.,\nLtd., Jong Soo Lee, and President &amp; CEO of SK Earthon Co., Ltd.,\nSeong Myeong.<\/p>\n<p>The signing ceremony for the MoU between Pertamina and Posco\nInternational was conducted by Whisnu Bahriansyah and CEO of Posco\nInternational, Kye-In Lee.
