Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Pertamina (Persero) together with ASRI
Energi Edukasi held an energy transition education programme at SMAN 40
Jakarta on Monday, 11 May 2026. The activity is part of an effort to
instill awareness of sustainable energy and to strengthen Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) understanding among the
younger generation.

Rudi Ariffianto, VP CSR and SMEPP Management PT Pertamina (Persero),
said that through the Sekolah Energi Berdikari (SEB) programme,
Pertamina encourages students to understand the importance of energy
transition and mastery of STEM from an early age as a foundation for
facing the future of the energy sector. This is also underpinned by the
fact that student interest in STEM in Indonesia is only 18%.

‘Transisi energi dan penguatan STEM harus diperkenalkan sejak awal
agar generasi muda memiliki kesiapan dan kemampuan beradaptasi terhadap
perubahan energi masa depan.’ he said, as quoted on Tuesday
(19/5/2026).

According to Rudi, Indonesia possesses a large potential for
non-fossil energy, so education from an early age becomes a strategic
step to prepare future leaders, regulators, and players in the energy
industry. This programme is also in line with Pertamina’s dual growth
strategy, namely maintaining national energy resilience through the core
oil and gas business while accelerating the development of low-carbon
energy and renewable energy (EBT).

On the same occasion, Glory Oyong, Chair of the Berkat Budaya
Sejahtera Foundation, said that cross-sector collaboration is the key to
strengthening sustainability education for the younger generation. The
initiative aligns with the government’s goal of accelerating the
national transition.

The head of SMAN 40 Jakarta, Adriansyah, welcomed the collaboration
positively. He said the programme is relevant to the school’s commitment
to achieving the Adiwiyata Mandiri predicate.

‘This is a good momentum where environmental issues are combined with
energy and STEM,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Baron, VP Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina
(Persero), added that collaboration with the education sector is part of
Pertamina’s commitment to building a future generation that can adapt to
the dynamics of global energy.

‘Trough synergy among the education sector, the community and
stakeholders, Pertamina continues to promote a learning ecosystem that
strengthens the capacity of the younger generation as the foundation of
national energy resilience and the sustainability of energy in the
future,’ Baron closed.
",
