The recent hike in the price of non-subsidised fuel like Pertamax Turbo has raised concerns among Indonesian automotive consumers, potentially impacting vehicle operating costs and new car purchase decisions. PT HPM's Sales and Marketing Director, Yusak Billy, stated that while fuel prices are a consideration for buyers, Honda vehicles are designed with engine technology that performs optimally on RON 90-91 fuels, offering flexibility without needing higher octane options. HPM plans to monitor developments and adjust strategies to align with consumer needs, suggesting the price rise may not significantly dampen car sales but will steer preferences towards more fuel-efficient vehicles.

JAKARTA - The increase in the price of non-subsidised fuel oil (BBM)
such as Pertamax Turbo has become a serious concern for automotive
consumers in Indonesia. This situation not only impacts vehicle
operating costs, which tend to rise with the fuel price increase, but
also has the potential to affect consumers’ decisions in purchasing new
cars. Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Operations
Director of PT HPM, stated that fuel price factors are indeed considered
by prospective car buyers. However, Billy emphasised that the current
Honda vehicle engines are sufficiently flexible in fuel usage. “On the
other hand, Honda products are currently designed with engine technology
that can still operate optimally using fuel with RON 90 to RON 91,” he
said. Thus, consumers still have flexibility in fuel usage without
having to rely on types with higher octane ratings. “Going forward, we
will continue to monitor these developments and adjust our strategies to
remain relevant to consumer needs,” he added. With these various
adjustments, the fuel price increase such as Pertamax Turbo is estimated
not to immediately pressure car sales. However, this condition remains
an important factor shaping consumer preferences towards more efficient
and flexible vehicles in fuel usage.
",
