'Perspektif' banning<\/p>\n

In regard to the banning of SCTV's program "Perspektif" as of
\nSaturday, Sept. 16, we have received numerous questions from
\nviewers. On that day a well-known author was on the agenda and
\nwas waiting in the studio, although he had previously read in
\nnewspapers that the program was being "rescheduled".<\/p>\n
We feel the need to give the following clarification.<\/p>\n
SCTV's board of directors informed us of the closing of
\n"Perspektif" during a dinner on Sept. 13. We had the impression
\nthat SCTV was left with not much choice. The board, who support
\nthe program which is strongly identified with the station, have
\nalso lost out.<\/p>\n
Questions may arise as to who has exercised pressure on SCTV
\nto "reschedule" the program. It is clear that SCTV themselves are
\nin favor of "Perspektif", and even funded the program for one
\nyear. They also financed the launching of the book Perspektif.
\nYou can infer yourselves who took the covert action and for what
\nreasons. Because of the previous airing on Mochtar Lubis? May be.
\nMochtar talked about historical change in the Indonesian press
\nsystem and the responsibilities of the press and others.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, we will not retreat. Time will disclose the
\ntruth. We do not want to lose "Perspektif" viewers who are
\nintelligent Indonesians with integrity. As the saying goes, "for
\neach one lost, two new ones appear."<\/p>\n
