Persipura beats Pusam 2-0<\/p>\n
JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya (JP): Local favorites Persipura Jayapura
\ntook revenge on Wednesday over Pusam Samarinda of East Kalimantan
\n2-0 in the second round of the Bank Mandiri national soccer
\nleague at the Mandala stadium here.<\/p>\n
Albert Yom of Persipura created the first goal in the 17th
\nminute, while Adrianus Kuwaub sealed his team's victory in the
\nsecond half.<\/p>\n
Persipura assistant coach Ino Ivakdalam told The Jakarta Post
\nafter the match he was satisfied with his players' performance.
\nIn the league's first round, Persipura lost to Pusam 5-1.<\/p>\n
"Well before the game, we had decided to earn full points. We
\nwanted to retaliate for our loss in Samarinda," he said. "By
\nconquering Pusam, we have begun the second round of the league
\nsuccessfully," he added.<\/p>\n
In the first round, Persipura ranked fifth after Persebaya.
\n"For the time being, we are able to climb to fourth position with
\nthis victory," he said.<\/p>\n
He said it was Persipura's first performance without coach
\nRudy Keltjes, who has been appointed as coach to the under-19
\nnational team.<\/p>\n
"As assistant coach, I always consult Bung Rudy by phone
\nbecause he is still our head coach," said Ino, a former Persipura
