Persija's Leandro shows leniency<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The appeal commission of the Soccer Association
\nof Indonesia (PSSI) showed leniency to Persija's midfielder,
\nLuciano Leandro, on Thursday, allowing the Brazilian to play in
\nthe final of Bank Mandiri national soccer league if Persija
\nmanages to get that far.<\/p>\n
PSSI's disciplinary commission had sanctioned Leandro by
\nbarring him from competing in five matches and fined the player
\nRp 3.75 million (US$400) for attacking Arema's Chilean defender,
\nFrancisco Javier Rodriguez Rubio, during the league's
\nquarterfinals opener on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Under the leniency from the appeal commission, headed by Ashar
\nSuryobroto, Leandro will only skip three matches but will have to
\npay a fine of Rp 10 million instead, PSSI spokesman Eddi Elison
\nannounced on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\"Luciano was provoked when his clothes were snatched by
\nArema's player. But as a professional player, Luciano should not
\nbe so easily provoked,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He also dismissed allegations that a certain prominent
\nindividual had asked PSSI to show mercy toward the players. (ivy)<\/p>",
