Permit for Tommy's questioning wanted<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The police are still awaiting leave from the Central
\nJakarta District Court to question Hutomo \"Tommy\" Mandala Putra
\nover his statements claiming that the police helped him during
\nhis time on the run.<\/p>\n
City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bachrul Alam said on
\nFriday that the police expected to secure the court's permission
\non Monday.<\/p>\n
Asked when Tommy would be questioned, Anton said that the
\npolice needed to discuss the timing with Tommy.<\/p>\n
\"We need further discussions with Tommy before carrying out
\nthe questioning,\" Anton said.<\/p>\n
A city police team of investigators came to the Cipinang
\npenitentiary, where Tommy is being held, on Thursday to interview
\nhim, but the warden refused to admit them due to the lack of
\npermission from the court.<\/p>\n
Tommy is to be questioned following his statements in court
\nindicating that the security forces had known of his whereabouts
\nwhen he was on the run.<\/p>\n
Tommy is currently on trial on charges of conspiracy to murder
\nSupreme Court Justice Syafiuddin M. Kartasasmita, illegal
\npossession of firearms and flight from justice.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors are scheduled to present their sentence request
