Jakarta (ANTARA) — General (Ret.) Moeldoko, chairman of the
Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo), said the
Jakarta provincial government intends to deploy 10,000 TransJakarta
buses by 2030. ‘The Governor (Pramono Anung) is keen to increase
electric buses towards 10,000,’ Moeldoko said at a press conference for
the launch of the Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS 2026) in
Jakarta on Thursday. He added that the realisation of the program would
be carried out progressively, with an addition of around 2,000 electric
buses per year. Additionally, using electric-powered fleets is expected
to improve operational efficiency of public transport while offering
passengers a more comfortable travel experience. He also noted that the
Jakarta Provincial Government’s ambition to deploy electric buses can
strengthen TransJakarta’s services, which are currently undergoing a
transformation towards a low-emission transport system.

Alongside this, private companies are ready to support the Jakarta
government’s initiative, spearheaded by PT Kalista Nusa Armada (Kalista
Group) together with PT Energi Makmur Buana (INVI). Kalista Group and
INVI have officially formed collaborations with three TransJakarta
operators: PT Biro Perjalanan Wisata Pahala Kencana (Pahala Kencana), PT
Bayuholong Persada (Bayu Holong), and Koperasi Jasa Angkutan Arief
Rachman Hakim (Kopang ARH).

That collaborative model is designed to help address key challenges
of implementing EVs in the public transport sector, from the high
upfront investment and charging infrastructure to ongoing fleet
operation sustainability. Kalista Group’s Chief Development Officer,
Yoga Adiwinarto, said in a statement on Thursday that realising the
capital-intensive ambition requires strategic synergy among stakeholders
to tackle the major challenges. Through this collaboration, electric bus
deployment can proceed more rapidly and measurably, delivering tangible
benefits to the public via the public transport system and supporting
the target of 100 percent electrification of TransJakarta by 2030 in a
more efficient, modern, and sustainable manner.
",
