        "content": "<p>People cleverer<\/p>\n<p>From Forum Keadilan<\/p>\n<p>Apparently the government is not quite aware that the<br>\ncountry's development has made the people not only more<br>\nprosperous but also cleverer, if not smarter than the government<br>\nitself.<\/p>\n<p>The people, different now, are not easily taken in by words,<br>\nand are even less likely to heed orders or threats issued by the<br>\ngovernment. The people of today really understand and have a<br>\nclear notion of the things happening in our society. Some have<br>\nmade statements to that effect, others bide their time.<\/p>\n<p>Global information through advanced technology and factual<br>\nexperience are of great influence on people's development.<br>\nTherefore, the government would be wise if it was more aware of<br>\nand open to this reality. It means the government should dare and<br>\nbe willing to radically change its attitude and approach toward<br>\nits people. Nowadays people do not accept an unrelenting attitude<br>\nand rigid approach.<\/p>\n<p>People of the present are no longer the innocents of yore who<br>\nwere just subservient. Recent events, including the riots as a<br>\nresult of the takeover of the PDI headquarters, are clear proof<br>\nof it.<\/p>\n<p>Parents often forget that children who have attended school<br>\nfor more than 10 years become adults and friends, not children<br>\nany longer, let alone foes. This also applies to the public. It<br>\nhas developed during five phases of the Five-Year Development<br>\nPlan. People are no longer naive children, they have become smart<br>\npeople and friends, not enemies, of the government.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the most logical approach toward the government's<br>\nfriends is certainly not to take a condescending stance,<br>\nespecially not with the use of threats and blows.
