Pelti announces team for next year's Davis Cup<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Tennis Association (Pelti)
\nofficial in charge of athlete and regional development, Sujiono
\nTiman, announced on Wednesday the tentative lineup for next
\nyear's Davis Cup.<\/p>\n
The six team members were announced as Dede Suhendar Dinata,
\nSuwandi, Hendri Susilo Pramono, Sebastian DaCosta, Febi
\nWidhiyanto and Edy Kusdaryanto.<\/p>\n
\"We picked the players based on their national and world
\nrankings,\" Sujiono was quoted by Antara news agency as saying
\nduring a training session for the athletes.<\/p>\n
The team will be pared down to the four core members who will
\nface the Philippines in Manila in early February.<\/p>\n
Sujiono also said Pelti would announce the coach and team
\nmanager after he met with association officials next week. For
\nthe time being, he said the six players were being trained by
\n1999 Davis Cup coaches Tintus Arianto Wibowo and Deddy Prasetyo.<\/p>\n
He said the two coaches would likely train the Davis Cup team
\nmembers for the remainder of this year.<\/p>\n
\"We select coaches who can guarantee that our team can win,\"
\nhe said, adding that the players were scheduled to compete in
\nthree Futures tournaments in India in January as part of their
\ntraining.<\/p>\n
Indonesia remains in the Davis Cup Group II Asia Oceania zone
