        "content": "<p>Pedicabs in Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>From Media Indonesia<\/p>\n<p>I'm really concerned about the judgment made by Coordinating<br>\nMinister for People's Welfare Jusuf Kalla as reported in an<br>\narticle titled \"Pedicabs are still needed\" published in Media<br>\nIndonesia on Aug. 16, 2001. This is an outdated judgment. If I am<br>\nnot mistaken, the policy agreed upon by the city administration<br>\nis that pedicabs may remain in operation only in certain areas<br>\nsuch as housing complexes but not in major streets.<\/p>\n<p>But, what has happened? Pedicab drivers are as delinquent as<br>\never, continuing to operate along the city's main roads.<\/p>\n<p>I would like to remind the Jakarta administration of<br>\nregulation No. 11\/1988 that prohibits individuals\/institutions:<\/p>\n<p>a. To produce, assemble and sell pedicabs in the city.<\/p>\n<p>b. To bring pedicabs into the city.<\/p>\n<p>c. To run a public transportation business using motorized or<br>\nnon-motorized vehicles not specified in the regulations.<\/p>\n<p>HR MANSOERJAHJA<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta<\/p>",
