        "content": "<p>House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VI member in charge of\nenergy from the PDIP faction, Mufti Anam, has criticised the\ngovernment\u2019s decision to raise non-subsidised fuel prices effective\nWednesday (10\/6). Mufti not only questioned the increase because it was\nimplemented amid depressed public purchasing power, but also because it\nwas not communicated properly. He said the hike was announced suddenly\nwithout adequate socialisation. \u201cThis quite significant increase\nhappened suddenly, without adequate socialisation, without a complete\nexplanation to the public,\u201d Mufti said when contacted. In fact,\nCommission VI as the government\u2019s partner in the energy sector had never\nreceived any prior information either. Yet, according to Mufti, the\nparty has repeatedly criticised this pattern. \u201cEven the DPR as an\ninstitution carrying out the oversight function never received\ninformation or was invited to discuss it beforehand,\u201d he said. According\nto Mufti, fuel is not merely a commodity for the public. Fuel is an\ninstrument that directly influences transport costs, business,\ndistribution, and the price of daily necessities. Therefore, he said,\nevery policy related to fuel should be carried out transparently,\ncarefully, and with full empathy for the people\u2019s condition. Mufti also\ntouched on a video about Bahlil that has recently gone viral. According\nto him, the video titled \u2018My Little Bolu Ketan\u2019 was not solely praise,\nbut rather a hope from the public conveyed in a nice way. \u201cThat is the\npeople\u2019s way of conveying hope nicely to the government. There is a\nmessage to be delivered that the people want the government to be\npresent, work harder, and keep the prices of public necessities under\ncontrol,\u201d he said. Mufti urged the government and Pertamina to openly\nexplain to the public the reasons behind the increase, including the\nsteps prepared to protect the public from any subsequent impacts that\nmay arise. \u201cWhat often disappoints the public is not only the price\nincrease, but because they feel they were not consulted and not given an\nadequate explanation.
