Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary-General of the PDI Perjuangan Central\nExecutive Board (DPP), Hasto Kristiyanto, emphasised the party\u2019s\nideological message that political party offices should genuinely\nfunction as people\u2019s homes\u2014places where the poor, the marginalised, and\ncitizens experiencing legal injustice can seek recourse and obtain\npolitical advocacy.<\/p>\n
Hasto conveyed this while personally leading the groundbreaking\nceremony for the construction of the PDI Perjuangan Samosir Regency\nBranch Executive Board (DPC) office, located in Lumban Suhi-Suhi Toruan\nVillage, Pangururan District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra, on\nSaturday. The event was also attended by DPP Chairman Djarot Saiful\nHidayat.<\/p>\n
\u201cBehind the office we are building lies a very strong determination:\nhow the party office becomes a centre for organising and defending the\npeople. The true meaning of power, as Bung Karno said, is siding with\nthe Marhaen people, the oppressed. A party office must not be grand yet\ndistant from the people. This office must be a place where people\ntreated unjustly can come and find protection,\u201d Hasto said in a written\nstatement in Jakarta on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The groundbreaking ceremony proceeded smoothly under clear Samosir\nskies. Hasto Kristiyanto, together with Djarot Saiful Hidayat and PDI\nPerjuangan North Sumatra Regional Executive Board (DPD) Chairman Rapidin\nSimbolon, took turns laying the first stone to mark the start of\nconstruction.<\/p>\n
The physical construction of the DPC office complex is designed to\ninclude a main building, a meeting hall, and a statue of Bung Karno,\nwith a completion target of January 2027.<\/p>\n
In his directive speech, Hasto Kristiyanto conveyed warm greetings as\nwell as an important mandate from PDI Perjuangan Chairwoman Megawati\nSoekarnoputri.<\/p>\n
Hasto stressed that a party office must not be built merely as an\nelitist physical structure, but must possess a cultural spirit, be\nallied with knowledge, and radiate strong alignment with the lower\nclasses.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery time I come to Samosir, Ibu Megawati always entrusts the\nmessage that this is the land that shaped world civilisation. Therefore,\nwhen we build this PDI Perjuangan DPC office, its function is not merely\na house for political consolidation, recruitment, or cadre development,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
He said the office must be allied with knowledge and radiate a spirit\nof siding with the people.<\/p>\n
Beyond serving as a bastion of defence for ordinary people, Hasto\nelaborated on the importance of the party office\u2019s role as a vehicle for\nprogressive political education, especially for the younger generation\nand the children of Samosir Regency.<\/p>\n
According to him, the PDI Perjuangan DPC office must become a centre\nfor dialectics, literacy, and the forging of imagination for the future\nof the region and the nation.<\/p>\n
History, Hasto said, has proven that great leaders such as Bung Karno\nand Bung Hatta were not born of luxury.<\/p>\n
Leaders are born from ordinary people who grapple directly with\nsuffering, poverty, and injustice, yet continue to forge themselves by\nreading many books and engaging in discussion.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, this party office must later become a centre for\npolitical education and a crucible for the younger generation. From the\nland of Samosir, rich in civilisational history, we hope that great\nleaders for the Indonesian nation and state will one day be born through\nthe forging of PDI Perjuangan,\u201d said the PDI Perjuangan\nSecretary-General.<\/p>\n
