We kindly ask the conflicting groups within the Indonesian
\nDemocratic Party (PDI) to amicably solve their internal problems
\nwithout interference from a third party. The political scene has
\nshown us lately that change is highly desirable, but this should
\nnot be taken to mean that the government must be toppled and the
\npresident needs to be changed. Economic success must be balanced
\nwith development in spirituality and democracy.<\/p>\n
Change is required in economics and politics. Should protest
\nbe taken to the street, it must be done in an orderly manner, and
\navoid violence. When demonstrations disturb order and traffic,
\nthe culprits must be sternly dealt with. I am sure the rift
\nbetween PDI groups can be solved by listening to the advice of
\nsenior party members with many years of experience in handling
\nthe political party. There is no need to bring the case to the
\nUN's International Court. Many intellectuals have still not been
\nconsulted concerning the PDI affair.<\/p>\n
