The younger generation must\nalso possess national character, a spirit of mutual cooperation, and the\ncourage to dream big, as exemplified by Bung Karno. PDI Perjuangan\nfaction member in the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives,\nHardiyanto Kenneth, has urged the younger generation, particularly Gen\nZ, to understand Bung Karno\u2019s thoughts and grand ideals, not just\nrecognise him through quotes circulating on social media. He stated that\nBung Karno taught that independence is not a gift, but the result of\nsacrifice, courage, and the unity of all the nation\u2019s children, values\nthat must be preserved and passed on. According to Kenneth, Gen Z has\ngreat potential as a creative generation, adaptive to technological\ndevelopments, and capable of innovation amid global competition.\nHowever, technological progress must be balanced with strong national\ncharacter so as not to lose the Indonesian identity. The member of\nCommission C of the Jakarta DPRD stressed that the spirit of Bung\nKarno\u2019s struggle in the current era is no longer manifested through\nphysical battle, but through achievement, education, innovation,\nentrepreneurship, social awareness, maintaining unity, and providing\nsolutions to the nation\u2019s problems.
