        "content": "<p>PDI Perjuangan, PPDK fit for polls<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Ministry of Justice and Human Rights announced on<br>\nTuesday the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI<br>\nPerjuangan) and the newly established Unity, Democracy and<br>\nNationhood Party (PPDK) qualified for the 2004 general election.<\/p>\n<p>Both parties were declared eligible to contest the election as<br>\nthey have fulfilled administrative requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have checked the status of their office buildings,<br>\nadministration and equipment,\" verification team chief Zulkarnaen<br>\nYunus said on Tuesday at PDI Perjuangan's office.<\/p>\n<p>PDI Perjuangan is the largest party, having won 35 percent of<br>\nthe vote in the 1999 election.<\/p>\n<p>The newly established PPDK is led by noted scholar Andi<br>\nMallarangeng and former cabinet minister Ryaas Rasyid.<\/p>\n<p>The justice ministry is making a background check on over 230<br>\nparties that have registered to contest the election, scheduled<br>\nfor April 5, 2004. --JP<\/p>",
