        "content": "<p>PDI-P to eschew rallies<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Apparently learning from the accusations of election<br>\nviolations against rival parties, the Indonesian Democratic Party<br>\nof Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), has said it would opt to celebrate<br>\nits 31st anniversary in a modest way.<\/p>\n<p>PDI Perjuangan secretary-general Soetjipto said the<br>\nanniversary would be celebrated by the party members at an indoor<br>\nevent. In the past, such events were held outdoors and involved<br>\nthousands of party supporters.<\/p>\n<p>\"We will try to confine the celebration to members only,\"<br>\nSoetjipto said.<\/p>\n<p>The anniversary falls on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Elections Supervisory Committee had asked the PDI<br>\nPerjuangan to refrain from holding a major rally before the<br>\nelection campaign officially began on March 10 as any such rally<br>\nwould be considered a violation of electoral law.<\/p>\n<p>The committee's Jakarta branch reported the United Development<br>\nParty and National Awakening Party to the Jakarta Police last<br>\nweek for violating campaign rules.
