The Jogja City Branch Executive Board (DPC) of the Indonesian\nDemocratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) held a social service\nevent providing free health examinations for the elderly. During the\noccasion, the Chairman of the PDI Perjuangan Jogja City DPC, Eko\nSuwanto, urged the regional government to increase the budget for the\nelderly social security scheme (JSLU).<\/p>\n
This free health examination activity for the elderly is part of a\nseries of events commemorating the 1996 Kudatuli incident. Eko stated\nthat the entire series of events was designed to implement PDI\nPerjuangan\u2019s commitment to carrying out its national political ideology,\nwhich is to always be among the people.<\/p>\n
\"PDI Perjuangan\u2019s commitment to ensuring the health of the elderly is\ncarried out through free health examinations. We also provide support so\nthat the elderly social security scheme from the DIY Regional Government\ncan have a good budget allocation,\" Eko explained in a written statement\non Sunday (26\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n
The Free Elderly Health Examination Social Service was held at\nLegawong Park, Umbulharjo. Eko referred to this social service as part\nof the series of events for the Commemoration of the 1996 Kudatuli\nIncident. According to Eko, the dark event 30 years ago needs to be\ncommemorated because it became a milestone in the history of PDI\nPerjuangan\u2019s political struggle against the authoritarian regime. Eko\nwants all PDI Perjuangan cadres to understand its ideology by\nimplementing activities for the community.<\/p>\n
\"Around 8,000 elderly people received assistance. In addition, we\nbuilt preparedness through the Disaster Management Agency with a\nsimulation of rescuing victims in the Gajah Wong River. We also planted\n300 trees, including jackfruit trees and various other fruit plants,\" he\nexplained. \"The peak of the commemoration on 27 July will be filled with\nReflection and Joint Prayer. Then on 29 July 2026, a Talk Show themed\nDemocracy and Human Rights will be held,\" Eko added.<\/p>\n
In addition to various social activities, PDI Perjuangan Jogja City\nalso held the Inauguration of branch, body, and party wing officials\nthroughout Jogja City. On this occasion, Eko inaugurated the branch\nmanagement for the 2025-2030 period, while also swearing in the\nofficials of Taruna Merah Putih, Baitul Muslimin, and Baguna Jogja City.\nThe procession was marked by the planting of jackfruit tree seedlings in\nthe Legawong Park area as a symbol of commitment to preserving the\nenvironment.<\/p>\n
\"All are one voice, solidly looking after each other, moving in one\ndirection, fighting to realise the people\u2019s welfare,\" Eko asserted.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of the PDI Perjuangan DIY Regional Executive Board\n(DPD), Nuryadi, added that this cadre inauguration serves as the first\nconsolidation following the regional head elections. It is known that\nfor the first time, Jogja City is led by a mayor and deputy mayor from\nPDI Perjuangan. \"This is a good thing that we must continue going\nforward. How the DPC down to the branches work well to convey the\nparty\u2019s good goals to the community. Branch officials must continue to\nbe united and move together,\" said Nuryadi.<\/p>\n
The inauguration was also attended by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of\nJogja, Hasto Wardoyo and Wawan Harmawan. Hasto emphasised that care for\nthe environment is a value continuously stressed by the Chairperson of\nPDI Perjuangan, Megawati Soekarnoputri. \"We must be pro-environment,\ncare about looking after water and life. Programmes must also touch the\nneeds of the common people.
