        "content": "<p>PDI-P, Golkar, PAN in mayoralty race<\/p>\n<p>BANDUNG: The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI<br>\nPerjuangan), the Golkar Party and the National Mandate Party<br>\n(PAN) have coalesced to support the nomination of Dada Rosada as<br>\nthe new mayor of Bandung, West Java.<\/p>\n<p>Dada, a former secretary of the Bandung administration, is to<br>\npair with PDI Perjuangan councillor Jusep Purwasuganda to contest<br>\nthe mayoralty election in October.<\/p>\n<p>Iqbal Abdulkarim, a spokesman for the PAN faction in the<br>\nBandung legislative council, said the coalition between his<br>\nparty, PDI Perjuangan and Golkar was officially agreed on Aug.<br>\n15.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We are sure that the pairing of Dada and Jusep will win the<br>\nelection,&quot; he said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The coalition is expected to win at least 28 votes for Dada.<br>\nThe council comprises 45 seats.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent Bandung Mayor Aa Taraman, a retired army officer<br>\nwhose five-year term ends on Oct. 16, is backed by the four-<br>\nmember faction of the United Development Party and the one-seat<br>\nJustice and Unity faction.<\/p>\n<p>Other candidates include the pairing of academic<br>\nTaufiqqurahman and Ujang Sachruddin, plus Sugih Wiramikarta and<br>\nIwan Abdurrahman. --JP<\/p>",
