PDI-P declares Kwik's case closed<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Leaders of the Indonesian Democratic Party of
\nStruggle (PDI Perjuangan) declared Kwik Kian Gie's case closed on
\nTuesday after Kwik clarified his statement during the party's
\nweekly meeting.<\/p>\n
PDI Perjuangan Secretary General Soetjipto said that Kwik, who
\nis also State Minister for National Development Planning\/Bappenas
\nchairman, held no ill intentions against the party.<\/p>\n
"This case is considered closed in the sense that the
\n(party's) central executive board members have already received a
\nclarification from Kwik," Soetjipto said.<\/p>\n
Kwik said last week that PDI Perjuangan was the most corrupt
\nparty in the country and was on the brink of collapse. The
\nstatement did not only irk party leaders, but also undermined
\nPresident Megawati Soekarnoputri's campaign against corruption.<\/p>\n
Soetjipto told Kwik not to disclose the party's affairs to the
\npublic without a thorough internal investigation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Kwik said that he had made some adjustments to his
\nstatement that PDI Perjuangan was the most corrupt political
\nparty the country.<\/p>\n
"I never apologized (for making the statement), but I have
\nmade some corrections," he said, adding that he was not pressured
