        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 Ronny Talapessy, Head of Legal Affairs and Advocacy at the\nCentral Board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P),\nhas strongly condemned the acid attack by an unknown assailant against\nAndrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons\nand Victims of Violence (Kontras).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe PDI-P strongly condemns the act of violence in the form of an\nacid attack against Deputy Coordinator of Kontras, Andrie Yunus,\u201d Ronny\nstated on Friday, 13 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Ronny expressed the PDI-P\u2019s empathy regarding the incident that\nbefell Yunus. He assessed that the incident adds to the lengthening list\nof attacks and terror targeting those who have been voicing criticism\nand advocating for human rights.<\/p>\n<p>The PDI-P urged the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and\nlaw enforcement authorities to take firm and serious steps in enforcing\nthe law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo apprehend the perpetrators of the attack against Andrie Yunus and\nthoroughly investigate the series of terror that has recently been\nexperienced by citizens expressing critical opinions,\u201d Ronny said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, attacks and terror against critical voices are not\nonly unlawful but also constitute a denial of democracy, the\nconstitution, and the nation\u2019s ideals of independence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis incident has also contradicted President Prabowo\u2019s vision\nplaced first in the Asta Cita,\u201d Ronny remarked.<\/p>\n<p>The vision concerns efforts to strengthen Pancasila ideology,\ndemocracy, and human rights, as well as to strengthen political and\nlegal reform.<\/p>\n<p>Yunus was doused with acid in the Salemba area of Central Jakarta on\nThursday evening, 13 March 2026, after he had recorded a podcast at the\noffice of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) entitled\n\u201cRemilitarisation and Judicial Review in Indonesia\u201d. Yunus suffered 24\nper cent burn injuries from the attack.<\/p>",
