        "content": "<p>PDI-P candidate jailed for forgery<\/p>\n<p>KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: The Kendari District Court here<br>\nhas sentenced Supriadi Saranani, a legislative candidate from the<br>\nIndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), to four months<br>\nin jail for using a false diploma.<\/p>\n<p>The sentence on Friday was lighter than the seven months being<br>\nsought by prosecutor Purnama.<\/p>\n<p>The case came to light when the Konawe regency Election<br>\nSupervisory Committee (Panwaslu) attempted to verify the high<br>\nschool diploma submitted by Supriadi, who was a legislative<br>\ncandidate in Konawe regency near Kendari, the capital of<br>\nSoutheast Sulawesi.<\/p>\n<p>When officials from the supervisory committed checked the<br>\ndiploma with the Southeast Sulawesi Education Office, the office<br>\ndeclared the diploma was a fake.<\/p>\n<p>The Panwaslu officials then filed a report with the police and<br>\nthe case was brought to trial.<\/p>\n<p>Following the verdict, Supriadi was disqualified from<br>\ncontesting the elections by the Konawe General Elections<br>\nCommission. -- JP<\/p>",
