        "content": "<p>PDI banners burned<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG: People claiming to be Indonesian Democratic Party<br>\n(PDI) activists frustrated by the party's interminable leadership<br>\nconflict have burned hundreds of PDI banners in the Blora<br>\nregency.<\/p>\n<p>But local PDI leaders doubt that those who burned the banners<br>\nwere really PDI activists and they urged the police to<br>\ninvestigate the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\"I can understand if some people are frustrated by the nasty<br>\ninternal conflict but I cannot understand why they should have<br>\nvented their anger on the party's symbol,\" PDI Blora chapter<br>\nsecretary Maryanto said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>PDI has split into two camps. One contains members loyal to<br>\nthe government-backed Soerjadi leadership and the other<br>\nsupporters of Megawati Soekarnoputri, who was democratically<br>\nelected in 1993 and ousted last June.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of PDI banners have also been reported missing from<br>\nSemarang roadsides.<\/p>\n<p>\"We plan to report it to the police,\" Semarang PDI branch<br>\nleader Danang Suwito told The Jakarta Post.
