PDAM official fights with journalist<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: A surprising fight between a journalist and the
\nspokesman of the Tangerang municipal tap water company (PDAM
\nKota) occurred at PDAM Kota office on Jl. Pintu 10, Tangerang on
\nTuesday.<\/p>\n
The spokesman Indra Wawan said that he was beaten by Zaenuddin
\nPinem, a journalist who works for a weekly tabloid and who is
\nalso chairman of the Tangerang branch of the Indonesian
\nJournalists Committee (KWRI).<\/p>\n
Luckily, the fight was broken up by the company security
\npersonnel.<\/p>\n
According to Wawan, Pinem had repeatedly come to the office
\nand met directly with the company director for confirmation about
\na graft case involving several officials without informing him.
\nWawan reprimanded the journalist and they quarreled.<\/p>\n
"We have a procedure here that a journalist has to meet with
\nthe company spokesman before meeting any of the firm's
\nmanagement," he said.<\/p>\n
Pinem who apparently could not accept the reprimand punched
\nWawan in the face and Wawan retaliated, ignoring the presence of
\nthe Tangerang Municipal Council Commission G chairman H. Enay.
