        "content": "<p>PDAM extends payment deadline<\/p>\n<p>PADANG, West Sumatra: The local water company PDAM has given<br>\nan extension until today for residents who have not paid this<br>\nmonth's water bill.<\/p>\n<p>The extension was made following the recent wave of unrest<br>\nwhich hit many parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\"People who have not paid this month's bill, which was<br>\nactually due on May 20, have until May 25 without incurring a<br>\nfine,\" said PDAM's spokesman Edwar.<\/p>\n<p>\"This extension shows that we care about what is happening<br>\naround us and proves that we support the reform movement,\" he<br>\nsaid Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>A similar extension is also apparently being given by the<br>\nstate-owned telecommunications company PT Telkom, which extended<br>\nits deadline for paying telephone bills from May 20 to May 30.<\/p>\n<p>According to Antara, several announcements were posted around<br>\nthe city informing the public that no fines would be levied this<br>\nmonth if telephone bills were paid before May 30.<\/p>",
