PD Sarana Jaya builds apartments<\/p>\n
The city-owned construction company, PD Sarana Jaya, has
\nconstructed eight apartment buildings to meet the escalating
\ndemand on housing facilities for low-income bracket people.<\/p>\n
Thamrin Djamain, the president of the company, said Monday
\nthe eight buildings had a total of 2,934 units.<\/p>\n
The apartments, some of which are rented to on a daily basis,
\nare located in Pondok Kelapa, Pondok Bambu and Cipinang, East
\nJakarta, in Karang Anyar and Rawa Sari, Central Jakarta, in
\nPenjaringan, North Jakarta, in Cengkareng and Tambora, West
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
But only three of them -- Tambora, Penjaringan and Karang
\nAnyar -- have apartments which are equipped with private
\nbathrooms, he said.<\/p>\n
Thamrin said that, as a matter of fact, the company had built
\na low-cost apartment building in Rawa Bilal area in Tebet, South
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
The apartment, built in 1982 with aid from the special
\nPresidential scheme budget, is now in poor condition.<\/p>\n
\"We have secured approval from the Minister\/Secretary of State
\noffice to rebuild the dilapidated Rawa Bilal low-cost apartment
\nand are now making preparations for the refurbishment,\" Thamrin
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
PD Sarana Jaya has bought a piece of land in Pondok Kelapa,
\nEast Jakarta, for the former occupants of the apartment. (arf)<\/p>",
