        "content": "<p>PC shipments to RI dive<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (DPA): Shipments of PCs (Personal Computers) to<br>\nThailand, Indonesia and South Korea -- the three Asian countries<br>\nthat had to appeal to the International Monetary Fund for bail-<br>\nouts last year -- fell dramatically in the first quarter of 1998,<br>\nnews reports said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia's PC imports this year as of the end of March were<br>\n21,000 units, an 80 percent decline from the same period last<br>\nyear; Thailand's were 42,000 units, or a 50 percent drop; and<br>\nSouth Korea's were 281,000 units, a 39 per cent decline, said the<br>\nBangkok Post newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>The article was based on a recent survey compiled by the<br>\nInternational Data Corporation (IDC).<\/p>\n<p>Altogether PC shipments to Asia reached 2.3 million units last<br>\nquarter, down 13 percent from fourth quarter sales in 1997, said<br>\nthe IDC.<\/p>",
