        "content": "<p>Lamongan, East Java (ANTARA) \u2014 Nahdlatul Ulama\u2019s Central Executive\nBoard (PBNU) has stressed the importance of maintaining unity and\nstrengthening knowledge of religion to face the challenges posed by the\ndevelopment of digital technology, including the spread of fake news and\nmoral issues.<\/p>\n<p>PBNU Chairman KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, known as Gus Kikin, speaking in\nLamongan on Thursday, highlighted the importance of making the Qanun\nAsasi a guide for NU officials in maintaining unity and ukhuwah for the\nbenefit of the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe values of togetherness passed down by NU\u2019s founders are an\nimportant foundation for the country\u2019s progress,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, PBNU\u2019s Rais Aam, KH Miftachul Akhyar, underscored the\nimportance of religious knowledge amid uncertain times, including when\npeople face bullying, information framing and fake news that can make\nthose in the wrong believe they are right.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSantri always play a role for Indonesia, even without being asked.\nWithout santri, there would have been no Indonesian independence. Today,\ntoo, digital-era technology without morality will become a disaster,\nwhich is why the role of santri is essential,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said santri have five strategic roles in the nation: spiritual,\nintellectual, entrepreneurial, leadership and global. These roles\ninclude strengthening faith and character, mastering science and digital\nliteracy, developing independent businesses, demonstrating principled\nleadership, and contributing internationally.<\/p>\n<p>The East Java Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Executive Board (PWNU) has\nalso scheduled a series of National Santri Day events during October and\nNovember. They include a pilgrimage to the founders\u2019 graves in Jombang\non 18 October, a National Santri Day assembly on 22 October, and the HSN\nSoccer League 2026, featuring 32 teams, from 27 to 31 October 2026.<\/p>",
