        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Deputy Secretary General of the Executive\nBoard of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), KH. Ma\u2019shum Faqih, stated that\nimproving the institutional governance of NU to face internal dynamics\nmust begin with strengthening organisational etiquette or \u2018adab\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Ma\u2019shum emphasised that this serves as one of the important\nrecommendations for the National Consultative Meeting of Ulama and the\nGrand Conference of Nahdlatul Ulama (Munas-Konbes NU), which will be\nheld at the Al Falah Islamic Boarding School in Ploso, Kediri, East\nJava, on 20-21 June 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNU was built by pesantren ulama. Therefore, organisational\ngovernance must go hand in hand with organisational etiquette. A good\nsystem must be supported by good adab,\u201d said Gus Ma\u2019shum in Jakarta on\nSunday.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, NU needs to revive the tradition of adab, which has\nlong been a hallmark of pesantren and the primary foundation of the\njam\u2019iyah (NU community) life.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that the traditions of deliberation (musyawarah),\nrespect for ulama, mutual respect for differing opinions, and an\nawareness of the functions of each organisational element are important\nlegacies that must be preserved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHadlratussyaikh taught that adab is the pinnacle of the structure of\ntawhid, faith, and sharia. That value has long been the strength of\npesantren and needs to be continuously present in organisational life,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to strengthening organisational etiquette, Gus Ma\u2019shum\nalso proposed strengthening pesantren as one of the main focuses of NU\u2019s\nfuture agenda, as pesantren serve as the heart of NU\u2014acting as centres\nfor ulama regeneration, guardians of the Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah\ntradition, and the primary source of organisational strength since its\nfounding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNU possesses a unique organisational governance. When all elements\nof the organisation function according to their respective roles,\nunderpinned by adab and mutual respect, the organisation will become\nstronger and gain the trust of its members,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Gus Ma\u2019shum also stated that various organisational policies must be\nbased on the real needs of pesantren and strengthen the role of\npesantren in education, community empowerment, and the regeneration of\nulama.<\/p>",
