        "content": "<p>The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) sent a delegation to\nPutrajaya, the capital of Malaysia, from 28\u201330 April 2026. This visit\naims to strengthen Nahdlatul Ulama\u2019s (NU) global role as it enters its\nsecond century.<\/p>\n<p>The PBNU delegation met with Malaysia\u2019s Minister of Religious\nAffairs, Zulkifli bin Hasan. The meeting was attended by JAKIM\nleadership and strategic institutions such as YAPEIM, IKIM, and Yayasan\nWakaf Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>During the agenda, the PBNU delegation held several strategic\nmeetings with the Malaysian government and business actors to introduce\nnew initiatives through Syariah Global Services (SGS) and Nahdlatul\nUlama Harvest Maslaha (NHM).<\/p>\n<p>These two initiatives were launched in Jakarta on 13 January 2026 as\npart of efforts to position NU and Indonesia as one of the global Sharia\neconomy centres.<\/p>\n<p>PBNU Chairman Ahmad Suaedy emphasised PBNU\u2019s commitment to building\nan integrated Sharia economic ecosystem, encompassing the halal industry\nsector, Sharia investments, and social empowerment.<\/p>\n<p>In the forum, PBNU also introduced SGS as a global Sharia compliance\nand certification services platform, as well as NHM as a cross-border\nSharia investment platform connecting global capital with the real\nsector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe met with the Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs along with\ninstitutions under it such as JAKIM, IKIM, YAPEIM, waqf institutions,\nand halal institutions. They want follow-up actions, and in August they\nwill come to Indonesia for the MADANI Conference and meet again,\u201d Suaedy\ntold NU Online on Monday (4\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>In his presentation, PBNU Chairman KH Ulil Abshar Abdalla (Gus Ulil)\nemphasised the institutional transformation direction of PBNU to expand\nits role from a social-religious organisation to a strategic actor in\nthe global economic ecosystem based on values.<\/p>\n<p>Programme Development and Resource Mobilisation Specialist Ade\nCahyadi added various priority sectors being developed, including the\nfood industry, health ecosystem, agriculture, pharmaceuticals,\nsustainable infrastructure, and energy (including energy storage\nsystems).<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, PBNU is promoting the development of global Sharia\ninvestment instruments involving financial institutions such as Bank\nSyariah Indonesia, Maybank, and Standard Chartered Bank, as well as\nopening potential collaborations with Harvest Advisor Singapore and\nsovereign wealth funds from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis visit received very positive reception and appreciation from\nthe Malaysian side, with hopes that cooperation can be followed up more\nconcretely soon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>A separate meeting facilitated by the Malaysian Prime Minister\u2019s\nOffice also brought the PBNU delegation together with various chambers\nof commerce and industry, including the National Chamber of Commerce and\nIndustry of Malaysia (NCCIM), Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (DPMM),\nAssociated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia\n(ACCCIM), and Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and\nIndustry (MAICCI), along with around 15 strategic business actors.<\/p>\n<p>Ade explained that both parties agreed to develop collaboration in\nsocial development and business investment, particularly in the halal\nindustry and Sharia finance sectors. As a follow-up step, the\nestablishment of a joint secretariat led by Dewan Perniagaan Melayu\nMalaysia (DPMM) was agreed upon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis secretariat will prepare technical implementation and bridge\ncooperation between the business sector with government and chamber of\ncommerce support,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the visit series, the PBNU delegation also paid a visit to\nthe PCINU Malaysia office in Kuala Lumpur. The delegation was welcomed\nby PCINU leaders, autonomous bodies (banom), and NU institutions in\nMalaysia, while listening to organisational developments and ongoing\nprogrammes to strengthen NU\u2019s role at the diaspora level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis visit affirms PBNU\u2019s strategic steps in building international\npartnerships oriented towards values, while strengthening Indonesia and\nNU\u2019s position as an important part of the inclusive and sustainable\nglobal Sharia economy map,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
