        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama\n(PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf, has commended the achievement of a\nceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States and hopes it can\nbe realised on a permanent basis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHoping this becomes permanent. This ceasefire is accompanied by\nstopping all violence,\u201d said Gus Yahya at the PBNU Building in Jakarta\non Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Gus Yahya stated that the cessation of the US-Israeli aggression\nagainst Iran must be supported and appreciated. According to him,\nviolence in any form must be stopped because it threatens all of\nhumanity.<\/p>\n<p>He also appreciated Pakistan\u2019s active role in moderating between Iran\nand the United States until the ceasefire was achieved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAppreciation to the Pakistani government for its efforts to act as a\nmediator in communication between the conflicting parties,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAppreciating the Gulf states for not retaliating against the attacks\nand even refusing to allow their territories to be used as bases for\nattacking Iran,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Gus Yahya had met with several ambassadors from directly\ninvolved and affected countries, such as Iran, the United States, Saudi\nArabia, and Turkey.<\/p>\n<p>On that occasion, Gus Yahya also conveyed that Indonesia must\nposition itself as a friend, considering that the countries directly\ninvolved in this war are friendly nations.<\/p>\n<p>War and violence anywhere and for whatever reason, in his view, are\nhumanitarian disasters that must be prevented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, we must position ourselves as friends,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, this war impacts not only the involved countries\nbut the world at large. This impact clearly complicates matters for the\ncountries involved and their societies. Therefore, he believes it must\nbe addressed collectively, as no one can escape it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll countries are affected and all are struggling with this impact,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>",
