        "content": "<p>PBB hopes to finish among top three<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The Crescent Star Party (PBB) has set its aims on <br>\nfinishing among the top three in the 2004 legislative election, <br>\nits chairman said.<\/p>\n<p>PBB chairman Yusril Ihza Mahendra expressed on Monday his <br>\noptimism that his party would meet its target, considering its <br>\npreparations, which he said were \"much better\" than in 1999.<\/p>\n<p>The Muslim party, a proponent of implementing sharia, or <br>\nIslamic Law, in Indonesia, won 14 seats at the House of <br>\nRepresentatives to finish sixth in the last election, placing it <br>\namong parties that beat the 2 percent electoral threshold.<\/p>\n<p>Yusril was speaking at the opening of the party's national <br>\nworking congress at a haj dormitory in Bekasi, West Java.<\/p>\n<p>The congress is to discuss, among other issues, the party's <br>\nstrategy to improve its standing in the 2004 polls and to <br>\nevaluate its performance in the past year.<\/p>\n<p>Around 500 party executives representing the central board and <br>\nregional chapters are attending the congress, which will run <br>\nthrough Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Jusuf Kalla and <br>\nNahdlatul Ulama chairman Hasyim Muzadi are expected to address <br>\nthe participants on the final day of the congress on their vision <br>\nof Indonesia's future. -- Antara<\/p>\n<p>;JP;AMD;<br>\nANPAa..r..<br>\nScene-military-civilian<br>\nMilitary, students train together<br>\nJP\/4\/SCENE<\/p>\n<p>Military, students train together<\/p>\n<p>MANADO, North Sulawesi: Over 1,500 military cadets and <br>\nstudents, including those from the Jatinangor, West Java-based <br>\nPublic Administration Institute (STPDN), are gathering in an <br>\njoint training program here.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian Military (TNI) chief of general affairs Lt. The commission will fall under the responsibility of the <br>\nCoordinating Minister for People's Welfare Jusuf Kalla.<\/p>\n<p>The commission will focus on young women in order to provide <br>\nthem with knowledge on reproductive health. Daan Mogot, Tangerang in Banten as part <br>\nof the implementation of the new law on intellectual property <br>\nrights.<\/p>\n<p>The HAKI director general, Abdul Bari Azed, said that the <br>\npirated goods had been confiscated during raids in Menteng DVD in <br>\nCentral Jakarta and Ratu Plaza and ITC Fatmawati, both in South <br>\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Bari said that there were currently 50 factories with 200 <br>\nmachines illegally producing four million copies of pirate VCDs, <br>\nCDs and DVDs per day within Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>He said pirated VCDs, CDs and DVDs of films and music alone <br>\ncaused US$250 million in state losses per year.<\/p>\n<p>\"We will continue the raids and target businessmen who posses <br>\nadvanced technology in producing pirated VCDs, CDs and DVDs since <br>\nPresident Megawati Soekarnoputri has given 1,000 percent support <br>\nto us,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile HAKI director Emawati Junus said she had sent <br>\nwarning letters to shopping malls and plazas in Tangerang and <br>\nBogor asking them not to sell illegal VCDs, CDs and DVDs. -- JP<\/p>",
