The West Java Provincial Government has simplified the process for paying annual motor vehicle taxes starting 6 April 2026, allowing payments with just the vehicle's registration (STNK) and the current user's ID, without requiring the original owner's ID. This policy, announced by Governor Dedi Mulyadi, responds to public complaints about unofficial fees and aims to enhance compliance and streamline services at Samsat offices. It underscores the government's commitment to facilitating tax payments, with no increases in vehicle tax or re-registration fees planned for 2026.",

The
policy responds to a complaint from a resident who felt burdened when
paying taxes at one of the Samsat offices in West Java. The resident was
asked to pay an unofficial additional fee of Rp700,000 for not bringing
the original vehicle owner’s KTP. He then uploaded a video of the
incident to social media (medsos), which came to the governor’s
attention.

“Paying taxes must not be made difficult because the government’s
duty is to facilitate people in paying taxes. Come on, pay your motor
vehicle tax soon to participate in realising an exceptional West Java,”
he urged.

Governor Dedi Mulyadi also stated there will be no increase in motor
vehicle tax (PKB) and motor vehicle re-registration fee (BBNKB) for
2026.
",
