        "content": "<p>Patron named Perbasasi head<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Abbas Adhar has been named the new chairman of<br>\nthe Indonesian Amateur Baseball and Softball Federation<br>\n(Perbasasi), replacing Sugeng Supriyatna.<\/p>\n<p>Abbas, who is also chairman of the Association of Indonesian<br>\nWood Panel Producers, will hold the position for the 1999 to 2003<br>\nterm.<\/p>\n<p>Suryo Adi Prasetyo, the new secretary-general, said Abbas was<br>\nelected by a national congress, represented by chairman of<br>\nPerbasasi's West Java chapter Pramana Suryaudaya, Sugeng and<br>\nAbbas himself as a donor to Perbasasi.<\/p>\n<p>Pramana will serve as the executive director and Sugeng will<br>\njoin the organization's advisory board.<\/p>\n<p>Suryo said, as quoted by Antara, that Perbasasi would improve<br>\nthe development system in its provincial branches. It will also<br>\nset up training centers in several provinces in Java, Kalimantan<br>\nand Sulawesi to support the development system. (yan)<\/p>",
