Christianto   10 pt ML<\/p>\n<p>SEOUL (JP): The 43rd annual conference of the Pacific Asia <br>\nTravel Association (PATA) concluded here yesterday with a call <br>\nfor countries all over the world to promote tourism as the <br>\nbusiness of peace.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian Minister of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications <br>\nJoop Ave, who was appointed yesterday as the new chairman of PATA <br>\nto replace Roland Cobbold, said participants of the three-day <br>\nconference called upon all nations to recognize the travel <br>\nindustry as an institution for free movement of people across <br>\nborders and as a potent force for world peace.<\/p>\n<p>PATA is a pioneering agent of peace, he said.<\/p>\n<p>The conference closed here last night with a gala dinner at <br>\nthe Grand Hyatt Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>Joop said the organization is appealing to governments all <br>\nover the world to guarantee the safety of visiting tourists, who <br>\noffer foreign exchange earnings for them.<\/p>\n<p>He said the conference decided to hold its 44th annual <br>\nconference in Auckland, New Zealand, on April 23-27, 1995, with <br>\nthe theme &quot;Profiting through Responsibility.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>In the same month, PATA will also hold a Travel Mart in <br>\nSydney, Australia, and a Chapter World Congress on Fiji in the <br>\nSouth Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>RI-Korea<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Indonesian Director General of Tourism Andi Mappi <br>\nSammeng, who accompanied Joop at the conference, told The Jakarta <br>\nPost that the Indonesian and South Korean governments have agreed <br>\nto promote cooperation in the tourism industry.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The two governments aim at increasing the frequency of <br>\nflights between their countries to facilitate the traveling of <br>\ntheir people,&quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Korean Airlines serves the Seoul-Jakarta route three times a <br>\nweek, while Garuda Indonesia serves the route five times weekly.<\/p>\n<p>Improved flight services are expected to boost tourism between <br>\nthe two countries, Andi said.<\/p>\n<p>Almost 85,000 South Koreans visited Indonesia in 1992, while <br>\nmore than 28,000 Indonesians toured South Korea.<\/p>",
