Footage shows passengers being evacuated from the vessel\nusing an emergency slide before boarding a rescue boat operated by the\nNational Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).<\/p>\n<p>Fishing boats and speedboats also helped evacuate those on board. The\npassengers were seen wearing life jackets.<\/p>\n<p>In other footage, the survivors arrive at Merak Port and are taken to\nits Executive Pier, where they receive care. The KMP Batumandi can be\nseen burning at sea, with thick black smoke rising as a Basarnas vessel\nsprays water onto it in an effort to extinguish the fire.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"evacuation-alarm-sounded\">Evacuation alarm sounded<\/h3>\n<p>Amateur footage shared widely on social media captured the ship\u2019s\nevacuation alarm. Passengers could be heard shouting \u201cAllahu Akbar\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>They were seen descending the stairs wearing life jackets before\nbeing taken by a Basarnas vessel to the pier.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"passengers-taken-to-the-executive-pier\">Passengers taken to the\nExecutive Pier<\/h3>\n<p>Search and rescue personnel evacuated passengers from the KMP\nBatumandi after it caught fire at Merak Port in Cilegon. They were\nbrought to Pier 6, also known as the port\u2019s Executive Pier.<\/p>\n<p>According to observations at the scene on Tuesday (20 October),\nevacuated passengers were in the port\u2019s waiting area. Officials were\nseen registering and assisting them.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"all-passengers-safe\">All passengers safe<\/h3>\n<p>The Directorate General of Sea Transportation at the Ministry of\nTransportation, through the Banten Class I Port Authority and\nHarbormaster Office (KSOP), said all passengers aboard the KMP Batumandi\nhad been evacuated safely. The evacuation took place on Tuesday\nafternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to information received from Merak Vessel Traffic Services\n(VTS), at 16:56 WIB, the KMP Royce 1 reported that all passengers and\ncrew of the KMP Batumandi had been evacuated onto that vessel.\nAccordingly, all passengers and crew were reported to have been\nevacuated safely,\u201d said Yogie Nugraha, head of the Banten Class I KSOP,\nin a statement.<\/p>",
